Cisatracurium besylate (CAS No. 96946-42-8) is a non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent (NMBA) used to induce skeletal muscle relaxation during surgery or mechanical ventilation. As a stereoisomer of atracurium, it acts by competitively antagonizing nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, thereby inhibiting nerve impulse transmission and causing muscle paralysis.
