Product Description

Narasin is a polyether antibiotic extracted from the culture medium of Streptomyces aureus.

1. Anticoccidial Function: Narasin is primarily used as an anticoccidial agent. Coccidia are protozoan parasites that can cause coccidiosis in animals, especially in poultry. Narasin acts by selectively binding to and transporting monovalent cations such as sodium and potassium across the cell membranes of coccidia. This disrupts the normal ionic balance and membrane potential of the coccidia, leading to the inhibition of their growth, reproduction, and ultimately killing them.
2. Growth Promotion: In addition to its anticoccidial effect, narasin has been shown to have a growth-promoting effect in some animals.
