Nitrendipine, also known as Bay-E-5009, is a second-generation dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It has the chemical formula C18H20N2O6 and a molecular weight of approximately 360.36. Nitrendipine exists as a yellow crystalline powder that is practically insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents.

 

1. Antihypertensive Therapy: Nitrendipine is primarily used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Its calcium channel blocking action helps to dilate blood vessels, thereby reducing blood pressure.
