Terlipressin is defined as a synthetic vasopressin analog with high selectivity for vasopressin V1 receptors. It has the chemical name N-α-triglycyl-8-lysine vasopressin and is an artificially produced peptide hormone similar to the hormones secreted by the posterior pituitary gland.

 

1. Control of Bleeding: Terlipressin is used to control bleeding in various conditions such as esophageal variceal bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, and genitourinary bleeding.
