Olmesartan Medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used in the treatment of hypertension. It is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed to its active metabolite, olmesartan, after oral administration. Olmesartan selectively blocks the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, thereby preventing angiotensin II from binding to and activating the receptor.
