Mitotane, also known as Lysodren or Mitotane Capsules, is a medication used in the treatment of adrenal cortical carcinoma (ACC) and other rare adrenal and endocrine system tumors.

 

1. Adjuvant Therapy: Mitotane is used as an adjuvant therapy for patients with adrenal cortical carcinoma, particularly for those with unresectable or metastatic disease.

2. Symptomatic Treatment: It is also employed to alleviate symptoms caused by excess hormone production from adrenal cortical tumors, such as Cushing's syndrome.

3. Combination Therapy: Mitotane is sometimes used in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents or radiation therapy for advanced or recurrent adrenal cortical carcinoma.
