Clopidogrel Bisulfate, also known as Plavix, is an antiplatelet agent that belongs to the thienopyridine class of drugs. It has the chemical name of (S)-(+)-2-(2-chlorophenyl)-2-(6,7-dihydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridin-5(4H)-yl)acetic acid, methyl ester, sulfate (1:1). This medication is used to prevent atherothrombotic events in patients with various cardiovascular conditions.

 

1. Prevention of Cardiovascular Events: Clopidogrel Bisulfate is primarily used to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and other atherosclerotic events in patients with established cardiovascular disease or those at high risk.
2. Combination Therapy: It is often prescribed in combination with aspirin for the management of acute coronary syndromes, including non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and unstable angina.
3. Post-stenting Management: Clopidogrel Bisulfate is also used following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with stent placement to prevent stent thrombosis.
