Apalutamide is a second-generation, non-steroidal androgen receptor (AR) inhibitor (antiandrogen) designed to block AR nuclear translocation and DNA binding, thereby inhibiting prostate cancer cell proliferation. It targets AR signaling, a critical driver in advanced prostate cancer, even in the presence of low androgen levels (e.g., castration-resistant disease).
