Desmopressin is a man-made form of a hormone similar to the natural hormone vasopressin, which is produced by the body to regulate water balance. It is primarily used to treat conditions related to excessive urine production and bleeding disorders.

 

1. Central Diabetes Insipidus: Desmopressin is prescribed to treat central diabetes insipidus, a condition where the body produces insufficient ADH, leading to excessive thirst and urine production.
2. Nocturnal Enuresis: It is also used to manage nocturnal enuresis, or bedwetting, in children aged five and older.
